Biblical Counseling
For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
Romans 15:4
Helping families, couples, and individuals apply Biblical truth to overcome the challenges of life…that’s what we do in and through our Biblical counseling ministry.
Our goal in providing Biblical counseling is to help you meet the challenges of life in a way that will please and honor the Lord Jesus Christ. It is our desire to lovingly assist all who are willing to work toward a Biblical solution that seeks to glorify God through personal growth and sanctification. Our efforts to promote these goals will include encouraging, edifying, exhorting, equipping, and instilling hope.
BIBLICAL BASIS
We believe that the Bible provides thorough and sufficient guidance and instruction for faith and life, (2 Peter 1:3 and Romans 15:4), and not the counselor. Therefore, our counseling is based only on scriptural principles rather than those of secular psychology or psychiatry. If you seek counseling from Grace Bible Fellowship, we want you to know that all counseling will be conducted in accordance with a careful study of the Scriptures. The Scriptures will be the authority in all cases. If you are unwilling to use the Bible as the final authority and are unwilling to do the homework assigned, sessions will be terminated.
It should be understood that Biblical counseling will involve giving scriptural teaching and making practical application of the same to each individual. The counselee is held fully responsible for how he/she implements that counsel.
COUNSELING – NOT PROFESSIONAL ADVICE
If you have significant legal, financial, medical, or other civil questions, you should seek advice from another independent professional. Although some of the pastoral or lay counselors of this church may be licensed in other fields, they will not practice as professionals but as Biblical counselors. Our pastoral and lay counselors will be happy to cooperate with such advisers and help you to consider their counsel in the light of relevant scriptural principle.
Our counselors are not infallible, nor do they pretend to know all there is to know about Biblical teaching and its applications to life. However, they are very well equipped and competent to help people change. They will make a point to differentiate between God’s commands and their suggestions. All Biblical counselors at Grace Bible Fellowship are either ACBC certified or in the process of attaining certification.
