Jesus Christ Is Still the Answer
“Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, and rely on horses, and trust in chariots because they are many, and in horsemen because they are very strong, but they do not look to the Holy One of Israel, nor seek the LORD!” Isaiah 31:1 (NAS)
How many times in the Word of God are we warned about seeking help from any other source than the Lord? How long will we as a country consistently and systematically chip away at the foundation that this nation was founded upon, seeking the help of modern-day Egypt instead? Do we really believe that we can sin against the Lord in such blasphemous ways and not incur the due penalty? Prayer in school has been ripped out, and the Holy Law of God removed from our court systems. This was the backbone of our country’s educational and justice systems. Toting the banner of “separation of Church and State,” this country wants the “freedom” and “tolerance” to engage in any “lifestyle” it chooses, without having to pay the wages. Unfortunately, the wages are coming due. They’re coming due, not by a foreign army marching against our borders, (although I do believe the sovereign protection that this country has enjoyed over the past two centuries is in serious peril), but in a cancer that is killing us from the inside out. We’re blind to it as a nation. Our unborn are being killed while still in the sanctuary of the womb. Our children are being raised by strangers as parents bow down to the god of materialism. Alcoholism, drug abuse, eating disorders, and sexual immorality are running at a feverish pitch. Psychotropic drugs are being advertised on the side of buses and during prime- time T.V., as our society employs them to numb the symptoms of a “lifestyle” gone very wrong. Influenced and infiltrated by the world around us, even some Churches are dumbing down their biblical standards and becoming impotent, believing that as long as they stay a decade or so behind the sinful culture at large, that they are engaged in Holy living. “Seeker friendly” is quickly becoming synonymous with “lukewarm” and “polluted”.
While it is easy to become discouraged with the despair of this world’s condition, there is still much work to be done for the Lord as the battle rages on. Is there hope? Yes! Jesus Christ is still the answer, and His Word is still sufficient. Through the power of His Word and the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ, lives are continuing to be changed in and throughout the world. It’s the Gospel and nothing but the Gospel that saves individuals as well as nations. Pray that the Lord would grant repentance and faith to the people of this sinful, wayward nation, before it’s too late.
