Discipleship Hour

See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.

Colossians 2:8

Sundays: 9-10 a.m.

Our vision for Discipleship Hour is to touch on a variety of relevant and important topics for faithful, Christian Living that we wouldn’t otherwise have time for. Various men in the church teach through a course of Biblical study that is sure to edify and feed the hungry Believer.  We often will use a video series for this hour, along with stimulating and sharpening discussions. As with our Worship Service, families are always welcome to attend this Discipleship Hour together!

Dust to Glory: Old Testament Survey

Join us on a unique study tour as we explore the major themes, events, and people that are brought to life in the Old Testament. Dust to Glory provides a panorama of Biblical truth and a starting point to help us understand the content of the Bible. Dust to Glory is a survey of the Old testament that can energize our study of the Bible, provide us with new insights, and improve our ability to read, understand, and apply Scripture to life.

“I believe that Dust to Glory is the most important teaching tool Ligonier has ever produced.” says Dr. R.C. Sproul.

“Never before has there been a greater need for Christians to know their Bibles than now. And yet, we know them less well than we have at any time since the Reformation. That’s one reason that I am so delighted to commend Dust to Glory. It gives you the big picture — the major themes, events, and people of the Bible — the very thing we need to help us know our Bibles better. And it does so in a gripping, memorable way.”
– J. Ligon Duncan, III, Senior Minister, First Presbyterian Church, Jackson, Miss.

American Gospel: “Christ Alone?”

Does Christianity mean Christ + the American dream? American Gospel examines how the prosperity gospel (the Word of Faith movement) has distorted the gospel message, and how this theology is being exported abroad. This feature-length film is the first in a series.

Why We Trust the Bible: A Teaching Series by Dr. Stephen Nichols

God’s revelation: where would we be without it? In this series, Dr. Stephen Nichols explains that we would be lost if not for God’s Word, trapped in the darkness of sin forever. Rather than forsake us, God sent His Son, Jesus, revealing and recording His redemptive purposes in an inspired, inerrant, and authoritative source: the Bible. Sufficient for all of life, a crucial question arises: will we accept its authority?

Defending Your Faith:  An Overview of Classic Apologetics by R.C. Sproul

When Elijah gathered the people at Mount Carmel, he gave them a simple task: “If the LORD is God, follow Him; but if Baal, then follow him” (1 Kings 18:21). Today such a challenge would only confuse people. God has ceased to be the Creator in the minds of many, but has become that sorriest of creatures, “God-to-me.” Why can’t some worship Baal, and others Yahweh? Why can’t they both be true? We have found the god of our age, and it is us. Our calling in this age, as in every age, is not simply to believe. It is not simply to proclaim. We are called also in our belief, and in our proclamation, to defend our faith, to give an answer for the hope that is within us.

“Always be prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you.”  1 Peter 3:15-16

“Prayer” By R.C. Sproul

What is the use in praying? As Christians, we are given the privilege and responsibility of communicating with the Creator and Sustainer of the universe. Yet many Christians neglect prayer. In this series, Dr. R.C. Sproul demonstrates that intimate communication with God is at the heart of our relationship to Him. Through Christ, we are accepted by God and enabled to call upon Him as our Lord and Father.

This 6-week study began on September 23rd, 2018 and completed on October 28th 2018.

“Prayer does change things, all kinds of things. But the most important thing it changes is us.” ― R.C. Sproul

“While his work has been recognized, the Spirit himself remains to many Christians an anonymous, faceless aspect of the divine being.” –Sinclair Ferguson
